Poverty (and how people live and deal with it) Empty Poverty (and how we live and deal with it)

Fri Aug 30, 2024 6:19 pm
Poverty is the dividing line between the rich and the poor, and can happen anywhere in the world than just Africa (although the situation there is much more drastic as we all know). Although anyone can be a victim to poverty, it's usually the following that are more prone to it (although it's worth noting that some groups may experience it more than others) >

  • Those with a criminal record
  • Not in paid employment
  • Generally disadvantaged (such as being raised in a low-income family)

There are several ways that poverty, whether it be relative or absolute, can be avoided. These include education which is seen as a powerful tool to break the cycle and lead the way for better-paid jobs for people. Creation of more job opportunities is also another way as well as community empowerment.

Have you, or someone you know, ever experienced poverty? And do you believe that one day, poverty will be a thing of the past for generations to come?

Discuss.
